As I've already said, I love beautifully worn things. There is nothing like an old table or fireplace mantel with layers and layers of peeling paint. For years I had wanted an old fireplace mantel to put in my home, but it had to be just the right degree of shabby. It wasn't easy, especially since every time I fell in love with one my heart would stop once I saw the high price tag. But finally I found one and for an amazing price. It is always such a thrill when you find that perfect thing for the perfect price. I recently moved into a new home and even though I had a fireplace in my living room, my vintage mantel wouldn't fit over it. Eventually, I decided to put it in my bedroom and it makes the room feel so much more luxurious and lived in. It may sound silly to put a mantel on the wall where there is no fireplace, but it just works, and beautifully so. The mantel above is one of my favorite pieces. It has layers and layers of cream and robins egg blue paint, my signature colors for my home.
Another thing I absolutely love to collect is old tarnished silver. Recently when my aunt was cleaning out her house she found tons of old silver and gifted it to me. I felt like I was in heaven when I saw the box filled with old silver creamers and teapots. The cream and sugar above are the ones she gave me and the teapot is one that I found at a flea market in Long Beach for $5.00. I love a deal, who doesn't?!
What a pretty mantle...and your jewelry is so pretty! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
